Due to the
modernization of communication, and the rapid expansion of
technology, communicating between people via electronic devices and
the internet, is expanding exponentially. A class activity today was
to contact each other via text messaging, Email, and instant
messaging;

Text
Messaging – done via mobile phones
“hey
bbe, hw r u? ur hair luks gr8 btw! hw was ur hol?” – Sent
by me to Tooba
“hi, thnx yh it ws gr8!! wht did u do over
the hols?” – Received as a reply by Tooba

Advantages	Disadvantages
Fast, instantly sent	Costs 30 fils not free
More effective, as not many people have an internet connection 24/7, messages however have more of a possibility to reach the person as phones are with the person more often	More expensive, as money is needed to set up a mobile connection and buy a mobile phone
Doesn’t need internet connection, or Net passport, just a simple mobile phone and sim card.	Personnel that isn’t familiar with text language and shorthand could find this confusing

Advantages	Disadvantages
Fast, instant	Need an internet connection, and computer
Easy to type, faster to type	Need to be able to know how to use a computer
Not that much short hand used, easy to understand	Only able to chat with people online, both of you have to be online simultaneously in order to communicate
Files can be sent instantly	Slow internet speed, and large files can lead to slow rate of transfer
Cheap, free to communicate, international communication made cheap and free.

(HTML based electronic mail)

How Email Works

The email message is usually a text based system, but nowadays can also be HTML based. Here are short summaries on how both types of email work;

Actual Process (Web Based version)

• The text email is sent to your internet server where it is made into smaller parts of text, therefore making them easier and faster to be sent via the internet.


• Your internet domain then searches for the recipient that your email is supposed to be given to; through the email address you entered.


• After locating the recipient using the email address the domain sends the small text parts to the recipient which is reassembled when they reach to the recipient as a new email message.

Actual Process (Computer Based version)

• These messages are usually sent using a SMTP, simple mail transfer protocol-port 25 and are received using a POP3 (Post office protocol-port 110) or IMAP (internet mail access protocol-port 143.)


• The text email is sent to your internet server were it is made into smaller parts of text, therefore making them easier and faster to be sent via the internet.


• Your internet domain then searches for the recipient through the email address you entered in; each computer has a different IP address (Internet Protocol.) This is located by the domain.


• The internet domain locates the IP address of the recipients computer, of which you typed the email of.


• After locating the recipient using the email address the domain sends the small text parts to the recipient which is reassembled when they reach to the recipient as a new email message.
  

E-books

A while ago we looked at ebooks and the different formats they come in, most of the online ebooks had to be downloaded but a few could be viewed online. A large amount of ebooks could be bought online these are the links to the ebooks I found while searching for an entire lesson.

New Course

This course is an insult to my intelligence; This simplistic "new" course doesn't take into consideration any of the stuff we learned in year 11, anyone tht knows how to navigate a computer can do this course!!

It also mixes up business and ICT, which makes it immensely boring not to mention confusing:D
